I 100% feel for Junpei and honestly don't blame him for wanting revenge. Forget that "Revenge isn't the answer!" positivity BS. Bullies are some of the worst people alive. Some people are just straight trash and do not contribute positively to society at all. I hope he exacts revenge on that girl who was with the bullies because she's just as guilty. At least let her get killed by a curse off screen or something. Or show her fearing that she's next. Same with the fat teacher who just ignored it.

I'm not sure how the court system works in Japan, but Junpei and his mother should've filed an assault charge against everyone involved. Make it harder for the bastards to get jobs in the future. Surprisingly, a lot of judges don't like school bullies. Especially when parents try to defend their trash kids. Everyone's gangsta until you get the law involved, smh.

Enzuki • 2 years ago

The problem is even if the bullies are found guilty of assault charges and go to juvenile jail, once they come back the kid is probably dead. Unless they can get the bullies expelled, but even so there's a chance they'll wait outside the school to beat him up.
My guess is that unless you have very rich parents and get them to sue the bullies parents into debt or jail, the kid won't see the end of it

Not_Demonetized • 2 years ago

You're so right. What sucks even more is when I was in school, if someone didn't like someone else, they wouldn't fight them fairly, they would bring a bunch of friends and jump the kid. So popular kids were untouchable and they could bully whoever. God I hate school and so glad i'm out of that shit.

Alexander D. Montblanc • 1 year ago

There's no such thing as a fair fight except on tv, entertainment. Real fights are never fair, but those who never fight are just proving to the bully that they're prey. Bullies are predators, but they're also cowards, they stalk those who show weakness, just like a wild cat will attack the young and sickly of a bigger species, but rarely take on the healthy, adult ones. Yes, some people who are bullies are also stupid enough to kill people over having received punishment for their own stupidity, but this is also why in some places, once in a while the wrong kid flips over and you get to hear about it on the news. Nothing you can do stop stupid people who would forfeit their lives over petty matters, but one thing is certain, a kid who is a doormat for a bully, who never fights back, never even tries to get even, will in many cases end up terminating his own life one way or another.

Endeo • 7 months ago

I suppose I'm lucky since my higschool tended to expell aggresive students (usually a few firstyears). Beside everyone I known got enough moral compas to not engage in bullying.

₵ⱠØɄĐ © • 2 years ago

It's always the same. A useless teacher backed up with bullies who torment the weak. I can't even bring myself to be morally positive about such cases anymore. Telling myself that the bullies just have to change feels sickening to me. Truth is, they can all burn in all, because this world or society doesn't need them.

I don't think anyone here actually thinks that these bullies deserve less than death.

Zora Ideale • 2 years ago

TLDR: No one does shit against bullies and bullying in Japan.

Not sure how the court system is for juvenile in Japan, but their arrest rate for adults is 99%. In Japan, if you get convicted for a crime, it's better if you say that you did it, even though you're innocent. They do get you a lawyer (for free), but that's just a formality for the paperwork they'll do afterwards. They'll basically wait until you spill the beans (there's a waiting period (sort of like detention) before the actual arrest takes place, and that will go on until the convicted person says they're guilty). Those are called forced confessions, and Japan's famous for that.

The worst crimes you can commit in Japan (according to the public perception as well as the police) are assault and stealing. If you hit someone, regardless of what that person does to you afterwards, the person who hit first is always arrested, no questions asked. The next worst crime (according to a Japanese lawyer who was interviewed by a Japanese YouTuber) is painting graffiti. You wouldn't believe how many tourists got arrested for that "because they didn't know they'd get arrested for it". If something's illegal in Japan, you better stay away from it.

Oh and if you're a tourist and you commit a crime, after your arrest period finishes, they'll deport you and enact a ban up to 10 years. Even after the 10 years pass, it's gonna be almost impossible to get a visit visa after that, since the arrest history of a foreigner has a bad stain on his/her reputation. The visa officers view that as eliminating potential future risks.

They're not as strict for juve jails, with lighter punishments (which could just be forced labour), but it would still be a really harrowing experience (the minimum arrest period is 3 years and maximum is 10 years). Still, I think that most students who do that kind of stuff end up not being caught, because it's an undeniable fact that Japanese teachers are most likely as inattentive as teachers anywhere else when it comes to bullying.

It's not only the teachers. Bullying cases are at a record high in Japan, but the vast majority of the victims are too scared to even report the fact that they're being bullied to an adult.

Then there's the problem of how Japanese people view bullying: they don't view it as a crime, so unless someone's been killed, the police wouldn't punish bullies for what they did. Leaving the police aside, we know how demanding and strict Japanese society is; in many cases, bullying is actually not even frowned upon, and is instead seen as character development, because "you must listen to your elders".

We saw the fat teacher looking at the whole incident from behind a window, but he didn't do anything. Not only did he not do anything, he had the audacity to say to Junpei that the bullies were his friends. I'm pretty sure that the mangaka of JJK (Gege Akutami) experienced bullying as a kid, which is why (s)he(?) brought it up as an important plot point in the manga. I think I can see the reason Akutami made JJK so dark.

Just look up bullying in Japan on Google. There's tons of stuff to read about on this topic. Many students resort to suicide as their only means to ending that vicious cycle.

Terrisine • 2 years ago

This is quite horrifying to read. I thought Japan would be better than my country's system as regards bullying but I guess it's just as bad everywhere. I went through bullying while in high school but it was not as horrible as depicted in the manhwas, mangas and animes I've seen.

Animu Lover • 2 years ago

I feel like it's very hypocritcal to have "revenge" as some would call it. I already know I'm getting a lot of downvotes saying this but fuck it. The bullies hurted him for they're entertainment but if you think about it, getting revenge is for pleasure. You pretty much are doing exactly the same as they do. Although I thouroughty believe that people should be punished but it's mostly for the sole reason of giving people a shot at change and showing them that being a piece of shit has consequences. Killing and tormenting someone for personal reasons is just hypocritcal. You just do it to feel good about yourself. People call it "justice" but in reality it's just hypocrisy. It's being a piece of shit to pieces of shit. It's just socially accepted hate.

Not_Demonetized • 2 years ago

It's not entirely hypocritical. kicking a puppy and shooting a killer dog are two different things. There's the similarity of pleasure at the expense of others with the topic of revenge against bullies but similarity doesn't mean that it's exactly the same thing.

Light Yagami (Kira) • 2 years ago

If someone has to remove the pieces of shit, why can't it be you. Why make other's hands dirty of doing it, also there is a thing called karma.

de-geso! • 2 years ago

I think you are 100%. If you give in to revenge, you just let their hate infect you. I think Christians have it right, forgiveness and turning the other cheek is the only way to stay a good person. It's not easy, but what is in life? To care is harder than to be indifferent, to hate is easier than to love, to be a scum bag is easier than to be a good person.

RAWRRR • 2 years ago

Life sucks so I'm making it easier for myself by venting my anger back at the people who caused it. I see nothing wrong, you say they'll be punished but by what or who? Life? Nah I am karma, I make what goes around, come around.

de-geso! • 2 years ago

Alexander D. Montblanc • 1 year ago

The Germans call that Schadenfreude, and the English, Closure. Your silly notions are born over the fact that you were never bullied, or worse, you make up these pretty copes to deal with it. As horrible as Japan's system looks, it's their country, their culture, and their right to decide how to organize their own society. I'm not even against bullying, in the real world nobody will coddle you like your parents do, for many poor wretches not even their own parents can be counted upon to be a source of comfort, much less spoil...

Instead I believe that those who get bullied should seek their own justice, getting revenge, and being ruthless, but controlled against someone who deserves is public service. Most teachers don't get involved because the law protects minors, the teachers know that if they intervene the bullies can provoke situations where the teacher might be forced to defend himself in a way that's more trouble than worth for a kid who's not even their own blood.

When I was in school we never sought the teachers nor the school board, such people are useless, and don't solve the real problem which is to make the bully understand he's not the king of the school. Many who thought themselves to be the king of the school found themselves thrown in the water in front of the hot girls, some got a good old hard punch on their fragile jaws, and others were ganged up by groups of like minded students and left bleeding from their mouths, and every single one of them deserved it, and in some cases more. And the best part is that the normies laughed at them as hard as they did at the losers who got bullied, and once that ritual happens the bullie's spirit is broken.

Once you land a punch on a guy bothering you, in front of half of the school nobody will mess with you, and other kids will form a ring around you. You are no one to tell me that the feeling of my knuckles connecting with that loser's nose was wrong. It wasn't, and while it didn't make me that many friends, it gave me a reputation, and a lasting peace for all my school years.

RAWRRR • 2 years ago

As someone who used to fight back against bullies, I can 100% confirm that I got in trouble more times when I fought back rather than when I didn't. It's like Teachers have some kind of "defend the bully" mechanism programmed into them

Alexander D. Montblanc • 1 year ago

Some bullies aren't even strong, they're just manipulative little freaks bent on destroying people's lives as compensation for their own suffering. I am completely certain you gained more by fighting back, people who don't fight back are doomed to become doormats, and people who spent all those school years being doormats tend to end up suicidal. Fighting back is good, even if you get shit and get in trouble you are affirming to your own soul that you're not weak, and will not be a toy in some sociopath's hands, those are good instincts, they're survival instincts, and sign of genetic victory and an expression of a bloodline reaching back to the beginning of humanity.

Mr.Cookie • 9 months ago

honestly im not really sold on the whole "these teens are bullies so lets murder them" story

Vlad • 1 year ago

That's not how this world works. I went to school in Europe, but from what I know Japan is worse in the aspect I've encountered. I got bullied really badly and the teachers ignored it. When I had an arm broken, it got covered up and was classified a sport accident. I recieved death threats in front of the entire class, but nothing ever had consequences. Twice, I snapped and retaliated and beat up my bully. Well, one time wasn't actually beating, but I did injure him with a dangerous object. Anyway, both events were covered up as well, despite the second incident was pretty serious...

Later, one bully tried to murder me by pushing me out of the window and I managed to grab something and tried to bash his brains in. You should have seen how his facial expression changed. Being stronger and heavier doesn't mean impunity... He froze up, but so did I. Unlike the other two events, where I actually snapped, I was mentally fully aware of what I was doing and thus also about potential consequences...

Someone walked in and seperated us before it got nasty, but he had sh4t his pants and I developped PTSD from that incident. At least he understood that I'm a hard target... From that incident on, I always carried a knife with me, in case someone tries me again. I was 13 at the time!

The TLDR is that kids cannot be punished like adults, at least in most countries and schools are always prioritising their reputation above the lives of their pupils... Without decent evidence, you can't just go an expensive court case that makes you a lot of enemies (parents, bulliy&friends, etc). Even if you win the case, so what? The kid won't be locked up and the same sh!t continues, just worse than before! The only thing that stopps this BS is when they realise that they have to lose too much. Though openly challenging is mostly not an option.

Mr.Cookie • 9 months ago

sounds like a good backstory

Alexander D. Montblanc • 1 year ago

You either punch your bullies hard, even if they hurt you, or you end up throwing your life away for revenge. There's nothing complex about it, punching them back and making them learn you aren't a pushover is better than the alternative...

Chuby Cat • 2 years ago

Except he is letting someone kill whoever they want, it's like being an accomplice of mass murder whatever your reason and also murder is considered worse in any western country than bullying so don't take your revenge by murdering someone if you don't want to end up in jail.

Zeers_quote • 2 years ago

Bullying is one of the worst crimes which are very rarely punished. I wish they didn't die, rather suffered through life or something. Their end was too easy and short.

If cursed energy arises from negative emotions then the likelihood of a cursed being erupting out of nowhere is high due to all the bullying that happens in general. And if this is such an obvious statement, then surely the jujutsu association should've already applied countermeasures to this. Like, for example, taking into consideration the type of environments that tend to promote negative emotions in general. Schools are one of them because the justice system in Japan is terrible. Teachers don't do anything and bullies are essentially God figures in their own environment. It would make sense to send young jujutsu sorcerers undercover to some schools in order to promote a better environment so the likelihood of a cursed being erupting suddenly doesn't go up.

But at the same time it's a bit of a useless endeavor as there is just too much to deal with. It's not just schools. It's workplaces. Slums. Rotten relationships. Family issues. Theft. Rape. Deliberately lying. Manipulation.

All of that is simply far too natural and I suppose that instead of applying forces to that, it's way more worth it to apply it against evil jujutsu sorcerers who take advantage of such phenomenons like Mahito.

Ray • 2 years ago

Thats why they put the cursed fingers/IDK at the school to eat the curses. Otherwise how could our main character eat the fingers, Thats what they said at the tho?
